GSDIS CR ranks among the best at CRIMUN 2025
6 October 2025
The event brought together schools from Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Mexico, and the United States, offering students the opportunity to debate, negotiate, and represent countries on real international challenges.
Our students demonstrated exceptional skills in this context:
-
Mariana Martínez (11B) won first place in the Committee against Torture (CAT), representing Germany, and received the Global Ambassador Award, which recognizes excellence in public speaking, analysis, and research. Mariana demonstrated the qualities of a true international diplomat, combining strategy, empathy, and global vision. This achievement will allow her to represent Costa Rica at prestigious international MUN conferences such as Harvard, Yale, and the United Nations in Geneva.
-
Maria Laura Valverde (9B) earned second place as outstanding delegate representing Russia. This year, she has represented GSD in three conferences as part of the Speech and Debate Club, receiving the Best Delegate award in each committee, reflecting her leadership, critical thinking, and consistency.
-
Federico Lorenzana (10A) achieved third place with honorable mention, representing El Salvador. This recognition highlights his dedication and progress, strengthened through his continuous participation in the Speech and Debate Club.
These results underscore the importance of simulations and debate competitions as learning spaces that strengthen research, negotiation, leadership, and collaboration skills. They also foster a global perspective, a core attribute of GSD’s educational model, preparing our students to face international challenges with ethics, creativity, and critical thinking.
Congratulations to Mariana, Maria Laura, and Federico for these outstanding achievements!
